Dear Editor

On Friday 11 November 2011, we held our Remembrance Day Service in church and it was packed solid.  I was very proud to attend the service wearing my new British Merchant Navy Veterans Badge you sent me.  A lot of medal-wearing Veterans came over to admire my new Award, which none had seen before and asked me “what that thing I was wearing” represented.  I am the only Merchant Navy Vet amongst our group.  I told them this thing I am wearing, which was approved by our beloved Queen, was to let “land-based vets” know that the Merchant navy also did heir share in the two World Wars and suffered tremendous losses.  I managed to get one of our Retirement Home Hostesses to take a photo of me wearing my new MN Badge.
